I think this is intentional and not a bag. I would consider, personally, equipment to be anything you wear (armor) and weapons are weapons. It's all how you interpret but yes, equipment would technically entail weapons because it's something you equip, however historically, if I was to put on equipment, I put on armor, and weapons are just weapons.
