I looked at my spells tab and it showed the sword spell and my fireball spell was gone but showed in the top with my equipped stuff. i tried to equip sword spell but nothing happened so i unequipped the fireball spell and it was gone, still couldn't equip sword spell. I then bought a couple of Fireball books but it said i could not re-learn this spell.

The fireball spell is still under your 'Spells' tab then. If it says you can't re-learn the spell then that's because you've already learned it.. obviously. However, it could be a bug where it did infact disappear. Try refreshing. Currently, all spells have a awkward blue icon (1/5 after recent patch) and the bug has been reported to EcronFura but once you equip one it'll show what it is.

I don't know what sword spell you're talking about as I was aware there was 2 public spells (Haymaker, Fireball), 2 private and 2 monster spells so if my post didn't help please elaborate on your issue so I can better assist you.
